TikTok has been trying to compete with other video sharing apps by incorporating features that were once only available on photo-editing software.
TikTok recently launched a new feature for users that is to post photos with background music.
Recently TikTok announced a series of new content creation and editing features, of which the most attention is Photo Mode.
In this mode, viewers can swipe through the featured photos, or let them "automatically display one after another," TikTok said. Photo Mode allows users to upload multiple images in a sequence.
This mode has many similarities with Instagram posts. TikTok said that the new feature has begun to be updated and is available to users in the US market and "most regions of the world".
TikTok's move to the photo feature is a strange move, as all of the company's competitors are trying to copy the short video sharing feature that made the platform so successful.
However, this change is not too surprising as the company has sought to "breath" its own soul into the available features or concepts of competitors.
In May, Tik Tok rolled out the Friends Tab feature, allowing users to update videos that their friends have posted that are similar to Facebook.
When TikTok launched TikTok Now, the daily version of posting photos was similar to BeReal (the app reminds users to upload an unedited photo at any time of the day). Both Tik Tok Now and BeReal have the ability to share images with friends, but TikTok's product also has the option to share short videos.
